Our take

Solves a genuinely hard problem: letting LLMs edit .docx files without destroying formatting. Adeu projects documents into token-efficient Markdown with CriticMarkup, validates edits as atomic transactions, and writes them back as native Word Track Changes — the workflow lawyers and contract reviewers actually expect. It ships Python and Node implementations, shows healthy downloads, and is actively maintained. It comes from the commercial Adeu team, so the roadmap follows their redlining product, and it is Word-centric by design. For agents that touch contracts or any reviewed document, this is the serious option.
