Our take

Deterministic chart renderer for agents: a small JSON spec goes in and a finished SVG or retina PNG comes out via a pure in-memory pipeline (resvg, no headless browser), covering a self-reported 47 chart types plus multi-chart dashboard tiling in one call. The MCP surface is just five tools (render_chart, describe_type, gallery, list_palettes, report_issue), runs fully local via npx, and the engine ships golden-snapshot and 323-case edge tests. Caveats are real: AGPL-3.0 with a commercial license and hosted API upsell, a solo maintainer whose org and public repo are two days old (development happens in a private tree, so PRs are ported rather than merged), and the ~2,000 npm downloads/week are not credible as organic adoption for a zero-star, twelve-day-old package — 18 releases in that window means registry mirrors and scanners likely dominate the count. For agent builders who want cheap, reproducible chart images without Puppeteer and can live with AGPL and a single-vendor project.
