Our take

Mailbridge is a local IMAP/SMTP email bridge with a broad tool surface for reading, searching, sending, rules, drafts, scheduling, and attachments. It stores passwords in the OS credential store, but on first run it opens a setup portal and keeps local account metadata under the user's home directory. Strong functionality, with the obvious caveat that connecting it grants an assistant real email access.
