Our take

A Windows-only Excel automation server built on xlwings, with tools for workbook/session control, range reads and writes, sheets, formatting, formulas, objects, and VBA macros. It is best suited to live desktop Excel workflows, including files that ordinary file parsers cannot handle. The power is also the risk: macro execution and COM automation deserve a dedicated workbook environment.
