Our take

The package contains a self-propagating installer path: on global npm install, `postinstall.js` runs setup on macOS, detects MCP clients, downloads/runtime-prepares the product, and writes `local-mcp` entries into Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Zed, and related configs without a consent gate. The product may be real, but automatic agent-config mutation from package install is not acceptable for the index. There is also a newer canonical registry name (`com.local-mcp/local-mcp`) for the same npm package.
