Our take
Local encrypted vault for passports, IDs, visas, photos, and related identity fields, exposed through MCP with purpose strings and an access log. The implementation uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 and creates a 0600 master key, but the key lives beside the vault, so disk encryption and trusted MCP hosts still matter. Consent is strongest in clients that support MCP elicitation; otherwise Safehold records an auto-approved host path rather than showing its own prompt.
