Our take

Two problems. First, this listing is a stale duplicate — the npm package's own mcpName points at the newer io.github.BuyWhere/buywhere-mcp entry. Second, the operation behind it is gaming directories: a 2.5-month-old GitHub account holding 123 repos, almost all forks of popular "awesome-" lists created in a late-June burst with commits inserting BuyWhere into them, a README that opens with a section literally addressed to AI agents telling them what to use the package for, and commit history documenting a coordinated Dev.to/Hashnode backlink campaign. The shopping-search API may function, but this is manufactured presence, not earned adoption.
