Our take

Ariel Memory is an ambitious local memory server with episodic/core memory, hybrid search, graph and wiki features, encryption, auth, backups, and a dashboard. The repo is much more substantial than its zero-star footprint suggests. The npm wrapper does run a postinstall that installs the Python package via pip, including a GitHub fallback, so users who dislike install-time package-manager activity should install from Python directly or audit that step.
