Our take

Scholar MCP provides federated academic search, citation traversal, PDF download, and temporary reading tools. It is for researchers or research assistants who need literature discovery inside an MCP workflow. PyPI distribution is helpful, but the low star count and PDF handling make source quality, licensing behavior, and storage practices worth checking before relying on it heavily.
